I too love reading and writing spiritual poems. You can check them out on my blog at http://myradaved.blogspot.com
Many are based on scripture texts but also on love of Jesus and Mary. God bless you and your family.

Thanks for sharing this with me, Ms. D.
I wish I could say that Mama and I shared poems, linquistically-inclined though I was. Looking back, I realize again how utterly wasted my time was with her. I would just be minding myself and not even asking how her day went. My Dad was away most of the time being an intelligence offer of the military; his letters to Mama were always in code. I was too little to realize that Mama wanted to talk to someone to share her pain. Her only recourse was prayer. She was one of the staunchest Marian devotees I knew. Now I realize that she was that not only because she loved Mama Mary but she didn't have anyone else to tell her problems to and not influence with her sadness.

How selfish I was with my time! She miss calls my phone often as she didn't know how to text, screaming to me by that silence that she longed to know how I was, if I was doing ok, if she didn't make mistakes with the decisions she made for me...

Now, I hang my head in shame... realizing again the great love my Mama had for us, hiding her tears, her pain, her utter loneliness for not having Dad by her side when she needed him most. Not knowing what to do and what to say to us, she just gave the love bursting inside of her the only way she knew how: with quiet conviction, with chutzpah.

Please let people know how precious time is with people you love! the more we ignore their need, the more we ignore ourselves.

John Paul II put it best when he said that
'Man will not recognize who he is until he knows how to sincerely give all of himself to others.'

God bless you, Ms. D.
